What type of weather or situation postpones or cancels the event?

  1. A well timed storm that creates a Portland city wide parking bam that prohibits use of the sled hill due to residents utilizing the Eastern Prom for emergency parking.
  2. A very bad ice storm
  3. Dangerous wind chills
  4. The worst case scenerio, that there is not enough snow on the hill. (This event needs to have sledding).

What if the forcast is for snow, sleet, or inclement weather during the event?

The Snowman Race must go on!! We run this event in any condition excluding the above scenerios. Please be prepared!

Will there be a place to keep warm?

Casco Bay Sports rents propane run standing heaters to place around the main tent. Participants will be able to keep warm before, during, and after the event.

Cancellation Policy (Please Read!):

Casco Bay Sports reserves the right to postpone or cancel the event under the following circumstances:

  1. In the case of inclement weather that would thereby make conditions too dangerous for participants
  2. If there is a City of Portland parking ban thereby restricting the use of the area
  3. If if there is inadequate snow on the hill.For a complete list of scenerios click here. This decision will be made on Friday February 7th by 6:00 PM. If your team cannot participate due to inclement weather/travel on the day of the event the fee becomes a direct Portland Trails donation. If the event is outright cancelled registration fees will be refunded or transferred to next year.

How will we know of postponement or cancellation?

  1. The homepage of this website will have an update.
  2. Our phone line will have a message (221-0203).
  3. An email wil be sent to all participants at 6:00 PM.
