The Zone Urban/Epic combines a 1.5K swim, 40K bike race and 10K run. The swim begins from the shores of Mackworth Island in Falmouth.. Swimmers will journey across the Bay and finish the water leg at East End Beach. Cyclists will ride an out-and-back course available only for the race — from downtown Portland, through the Industrial district, looping around Baxter Boulevard, then heading north up the coast. The run will be memorable as well, as athletes cover a lollipop of the Eastern Prom Trail and Back Cove Path.

The 6.2-mile run, starting at Crescent Beach and ending at Portland Head Light, the nation's first commissioned lighthouse, attracted over 5,000 runners, along with over 10,000 spectators, to the Maine coast last summer, making it the largest road race ever in the Pine Tree State. This is the eleventh year for the popular race, which draws runners from all parts of the U.S. and elite athletes from around the world.
